Lemongrass {Cymbopogon citratus} – How to make Bug Repellent and Athlete’s Foot Blend Using Lemongrass

In my last post, I re-blogged an excellent post about Lemongrass from Winding River Herbals. You can read it below.

Here I am giving you 2 easy to make recipes incorporating the wonder Lemongrass essential oils: bug repellent and athlete’s foot

  • All Natural Bug Repellent

The recipe is very simple. I also carry it in my ETSY shop here if you rather have it made for you 🙂

1 oz carrier oil ( I use Avocado oil. You can use olive oil, Almond oil, Hazel nut oil, Apricot Kernel oil, Aloe Vera gel or any oil you have)

4 drops Thyme (if you are using it for children, use chemotype: linalool which is gentler)

4 drops Lemongrass

4 drops Lavender    IMG_8889

4 drops Peppermint

4 drops Patchouli

2 drops Opopanax

And there you have it – a highly effective all natural bug repellent for the whole family.

  • Fast Drying Aloe-gel based Athlete’s Foot Blend

5 drops Lemongrass

5 drops Lemon

5 drops Tea tree

5 drops Sandalwood

5 drops Patchouli and 10 drops Palmarosa

Lemongrass, Lemon and Tea tree are excellent anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Sandalwood, Patchouli and Palmarosa are cooling and skin-healing. The blend kills the fungal while at the same time supports the skin to heal!

I make a stock base with the above blend. For children younger than 8, use 12 drops of the blend in one ounce of aloe gel. For children older than 8, you can use 18 drops in one ounce. You can buy aloe-gel from Whole Food. Make sure the aloe gel is the food grade. Shake well before use. Use the blend in the morning and evening.

I carry the stock blend in my ETSY shop here.
